Why we do not rely solely on AI for recruiting

At Exeon, we believe that hiring is more than just matching keywords or algorithms. While we do leverage automation - such as workflow tools and analytics – to make our process more efficient and candidate-friendly, we intentionally do not use AI to screen or evaluate candidates. Every CV and application is personally reviewed by our recruiting team. Here are 3 reasons why:

1. The Human Touch Matters

Recruiting is about people, not just data. Our team takes the time to understand each candidate’s unique background, experiences, and potential. We look for the story behind the CV: what motivates you, what challenges you’ve overcome, and what you’re passionate about. This personal approach helps us build a team that’s not only skilled but also aligned with our values and culture.

2. We Value Authentic Responses

Standardized screening questions often lead to standardized answers. We believe that honest, personal responses help us build a relationship from the very first interaction. We appreciate the effort you put into your application more than a perfectly crafted answer generated by AI. Taking the time to craft your own answers demonstrates that you are serious about joining Exeon. It also gives us a better sense of how you think and communicate -qualities that are just as important as your technical skills.

3. Life Happens – We Want the Full Picture

We understand that not everything fits neatly into a CV. Sometimes, important context – like career breaks, personal achievements, or unique circumstances – is shared in a cover letter or email. Our team reads these carefully because we believe in seeing the whole person, not just a list of qualifications. This holistic view helps us make fair and informed decisions.

How You Can Help Our Process

That said, we encourage you to use AI as a tool to streamline your application - whether it’s for polishing your language, organizing your thoughts, or brainstorming ideas. But here’s what truly makes a difference: keep it personal and genuine. Avoid generic, keyword-stuffed answers that try to tick every box. Instead, focus on what makes your experience and perspective unique. If there’s something in your CV that needs context – like a career pivot, a gap, or an unconventional path – use the cover letter to tell us your story. We’re not looking for perfection; we’re looking for you. Cut the fluff, be honest, and show us why you’re excited about joining Exeon.

Our process

Recruiting processes can feel impersonal and one-sided. We’d like to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. Here’s an overview of a typical interview loop.

1. Discovery call

Within a week of applying, our hiring team will come back to you with feedback. We will schedule a short call if your application suggests that you could be a good fit for the position. During the call we want to learn about you and your matching skills. This is also a chance for you to get familiar with the role, the team and our company culture.

2. Meet the hiring manager

In this meeting you and your future manager take a deeper dive into your background, work experience, skills and qualifications - this is your time to shine! You will also learn more about the scope of the position, your impact, responsibilities and your future team.

3. Show us your skills

To see you in action, we will give you a task that reflects the typical daily challenges related to your position. For business roles, this might be a presentation on a specific topic or assessment of your language skills. For technical roles, this always is a technical assignment, such as a coding task or a questionnaire.

4. Welcome on board!

By this stage we are mutually convinced that Exeon is the right place for you, and you will get a call from your future team lead with the job offer. After finalizing the details such as your starting date, we start the onboarding process and introduce you to the rest of the team. We are thrilled you're joining Exeon and look forward to welcoming you on your first day.
